Student mentors will have the responsibility of helping Biology Boot Camp participants transition into the Biology program. In doing so, the student mentors will aid in program check-in and execution, which includes participation in social events, attending discussion sessions, as well as leading focus and study group sessions throughout the program. Student mentors will be expected to be familiar with topics covered during the Biology Boot Camp which include; An introduction to Chemistry, Biomolecules (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids), Chemical Reactions and Enzymes, Cell Structures, and Membrane Structure and Function. Lecture attendance is optional. In addition to their stipend, student mentors will receive complementary room and board for the week of the program. Mentors will move onto campus early on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
Current biology students of good standing as determined by the Biology Boot Camp program director will be invited to participate in the program as student mentors.
