Platform Support Unit

The incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:
Administers and manages the full range of IT requirements for the office.
Initiates, plans, organizes, coordinates and monitors IT projects.
Determine goals and objectives for the Unit.
Review and analyze incoming projects and assign work to subordinates.
Guide, direct and motivate employees.
Set performance standards, monitor and evaluate the performance of subordinates.
Determine staffing requirements and participate in staffing decisions.
Maintain contacts with personnel at all levels within and outside the agency.
Prepare communications for implementing policies, proposed policy changes or new regulation.
Responsible for the day to day operations and administration of operational databases.
Responsible for the day to day operations and administration of the virtual environment.
The Platform Support Unit manages the enterprise database and virtualization infrastructure for the systems and applications that are operated and maintained by ITSD.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 14 grade level as defined below:
Technical understanding of Oracle, Sequel, VMWare, and Adabase programs are desirable. You will be managing and directing a team of Database Administrators (DBA's) in those three areas of expertise.
Technical understanding of virtualization and how it is designed to operate in an enterprise environment.
Managing or directing the activities of subordinates to ensure that IT program objectives are completed;
Experience resolving and improving enterprise-wide IT systems and services, including managing and accounting for program performance;
Management of an organization's IT infrastructure using HP OpenView monitoring tools;
Serving as an IT project manager, analyzing system requirements, conducting studies, identifying standards or requirements for infrastructure;
Serving as an IT advisor to management; providing complex technical advice on the planning, development, design, procurement, maintenance or implementation of IT systems.
This position is designated as "emergency". As an "emergency" employee, you may be expected to report to work during periods of adverse weather conditions or other types of emergency situations when it is announced that an "unscheduled leave policy" is in effect or that federal agencies are closed in your immediate vicinity.
Selectee(s) will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, prior to entering on duty and annually thereafter.
