This position reports to the Food Service Manager and is responsible for tray assembly and proper meal distribution for our patients. Resonsibilities may also include supervision of the Dr. Java Coffee Shop. Ensures quality and consistent food preparation, production and service. Responsible for ordering and maintaining sufficient stock and storage in assigned areas. Will coordinate activities for various positions as assigned in all areas of the Food Service Department.
The Supervisor will have ability to function as Grill Cook/Cashier, Cook, Dishwasher/Utility Clerk, Coffee Shop Barista and/or Nutrition Service Representative on an as needed basis. The Supervisor is responsible for working in these positions if these individuals are on break or during times of absence. The Supervisor is accountable for scheduling employees in the areas they are responsible for. The Supervisor will become proficient in the duties of those supervised and must be physically able to perform all duties.
The duties described herein are minimum standards and may be modified to meet the changing needs of WestCare Health System Administration at any time.
Education: High School Graduate
Experience: Three (3) years experience in Food Service required, preferably an institutional food service environment. Two (2) years Food Service Supervision, desirable
Ability to lift excess of fifty (50) lbs. shoulder height. Exposure to temperature changes (-10 degrees in freezer) to high cooking core temperatures. Ability to function with much physical demand on feet, pulling carts up to 200 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing to normal limits for safety reasons.
Must operate various equipment as outlined in the supervisor section of F&N training manual to include such items as dish machine and grill.
Hospital rooms, clinical department, hospital grounds and the surrounding community. Potential exposure to individuals who may be physically or verbally abuse. Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during work activities. Personal protective equipment is defined as: hair restraints and gloves.
