Supervisor – Network Reliability Operations Center (NROC)


1. Support the CenturyLink mission, vision, strategic plan ,and goals and management decisions

2. Establish unit/program/department mission and goals.

3. Interpret and ensure self and subordinate employees are in compliance with company and department policies.

  • Directs the repair and maintenance of over 40 products required to provide service to Networx Federal customers.
  • Selects competent staff in accordance with legal, Corporate and department hiring guidelines. Develops an effective staff by motivating, training, and evaluating employees.
  • Provides a safe work environment for employees and eliminates accidents by providing safety training and reinforcing safety requirements on the job.
  • Contributes to a positive Company image within the communities served by ensuring that prompt, courteous service is given to customers and acting as the Company's representative within the community.
  • Monitors workload and manages work schedules to insure labor efficiency and meet service demands (i.e., overtime, weekends, evening work, etc.).
  • Promotes harmonious and productive working relationships with other CenturyLink departments, Networx contractors, and our government customers.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in business or a related field plus 5 – 7 years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Three (3) years Supervisory experience with proven leadership abilities with demonstrated ability to build group commitment to company goals and objectives.
  • Minimum five years of telecommunications industry experience which demonstrates a basic knowledge of telephony and outside plant construction and repair practices, and current knowledge of digital switching systems, various transmission systems and central office power systems, broadband experience and VoIP technology or the equivalent in training and experience.
  • Work leadership experience that demonstrates involvement in planning, directing and monitoring the work of others and ability to build group commitment to company goals and objectives.
  • Work experience that demonstrates strong analytical and/or problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and/or mainframe computer systems and related software to include at least two of the following: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Verbal and written communications skills to interact with technical and non-technical contacts.
  • Basic knowledge of emerging and advanced communications technologies.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical or organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle situations involving conflict while promoting a positive company image.
  • Ability to perform under emergency conditions and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to travel and be away from home for several days at a time.
  • Ability to work weekends and nights when necessary.
  • Skilled in the use of operating personal computers utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook programs.
  • Read and follow technical instructions.
  • A candidate for this position should be able to work independently, with peers, customers, and supplier teams; to prioritize numerous deliverables on multiple projects; interface directly with all levels of management; and to develop and schedule reports through multiple custom databases. Must be willing to submit and successfully complete Government Agency Clearance request. Applicants must be eligible to work in an SSA position of Public Trust.
