The Supervisor Pick-up and Delivery is responsible for direct supervision of pick-up and delivery in the assigned market. This position supervises a team of couriers who are responsible for deliveries in the market and ensures that equipment is safe and functioning properly, that couriers are following proper procedures, and that customer experience objectives are consistently met. The supervisor spends the majority of time on the road with couriers. The Supervisor works closely with the National Dispatch Center and other Quality teams in order to improve on-time performance in the assigned market. He/she acts as the champion to implement programs/process changes in the field.

  • Lead and manage a team by training, developing and coaching team members on a consistent basis
  • Ensure a positive customer experience
  • Act as liaison with National Dispatch Center for all courier related communications and issues
  • Responsible for on-time performance in local market; monitor and coach couriers to bring local operations to par with FedEx standards
  • Hire team members and monitor new hire orientation procedures
  • Train and evaluate the efficiency and productivity of team members based on established performance standards and objectives; ensure team members are consistently following FedEx Office Policies and Procedures; conduct regular Operations Reviews and Performance Appraisals
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as immediate supervisor of team member; monitor fuel reports, vendor managed maintenance and expenses, and toll tags
  • Ensure fleet is properly and routinely maintained (e.g. oil changes, external appearance)and that vehicles have current licensing, registration and local permits; perform quarterly safety inspections
  • Coordinate with appropriate agencies and FSO departments to handle accidents and maintenance issues
  • Coordinate equipment replacement and maintenance of handheld device in conjunction with National Dispatch Center support personnel
  • Ensure couriers have appropriate external badges and security access
  • Monitor money back guarantee activity and performance investigations as required
  • All other duties as needed or required


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of prior progressively responsible supervisory experience; transportation experience preferred
  • Ability to lead, direct and supervise team members in a remote, multi-location environment;
  • Comfortable dealing with technology; experience with software running on PDAs/cell phone preferred
  • Advanced level of reading, writing and mathematical ability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • For new hires, must meet all FedEx Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring, including successful passing of background check
  • For current FedEx Office team members, must meet hiring criteria for the position and transfer requirements as outlined in the Team Member Handbook

  • Ability to travel as required in order to meet with customers, vendors, team members, and/or other business necessities
  • Ability to move and lift 75 pounds and packages of any weight above 75 lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability to utilize simple mobile phone devices (on the job training will be provided) to effectively communicate with the centralized dispatcher
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to work within the appropriate level of independence
