  • Job Summary: This position will support LLUMC’s strategic plan and the organization’s mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. In coordination with the Manager/Director-Patient Care, the Supervisor-Patient Care provides clinical management, administrative, financial, and human resource management and supervision on a designated unit(s). Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in providing supervision and management to a team of licensed and unlicensed personnel during an assigned shift on designated unit(s) who provide direct and indirect patient care for an age-specific population. Provides management presence after business hours. Serves as a resource to staff; mentors and coaches staff. In coordination with the Manager/Director, manages and supervises day-to-day unit operations and human resources. Ensures lunch and rest break coverage when determines necessary and provides direct patient care so that lunch and rest breaks can be taken. Serves as liaison among Manager, Director, team leaders, educators, and staff to implement new processes and changes in clinical practice. Collaborates with Director to ensure continuity of care is provided from shift-to-shift, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Evaluates assigned personnel for clinical competency and advancement on the clinical ladder. Initiates and follows through on disciplinary action in consultation with Manager/Director and People Services when deems appropriate. Serves as a role model and provides positive influence to facilitate change. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Meet one of the educational requirements (1) Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing required (in progress acceptable with quarterly progress reports). (2) Associate’s Degree in nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree in a non-nursing field and a Master’s degree in nursing (in progress acceptable with quarterly progress reports). Complete management course within the first six months of hired required. Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience in area of specialty and in a facility with an equivalent patient acuity level required. Minimum of one year of prior management or supervisory experience preferred. Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic life Support (BLS) certification required. American Heart Association (AHS) approved Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Demonstrates competencies in clinical nursing, leadership, supervisory, management and communications skills, education, and/or staff development required. Knowledge of healthcare law and finance preferred. Able to: read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate and/or troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to: relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to: communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.
