DESCRIPTION

Individual needed to provide instructional training to residents with developmental disabilities by assisting with daily living and survival skills needed for independent living. This is accomplished by assisting residents in completing day-to-day routine tasks.

Works under the direct supervision of the Residential Manager/Waiver Coordinator and/or Residential Case Manager as assigned. Provides instructional training to the residents at the Pathfinder Residential Facility. Assists residents in acquiring necessary daily living skills and survival skills for independent living. Collects data and monitors training programs. Supervises and assists residents in completing day-to-day routine tasks.

1 full-time position is available.

Hours: Mon.-Fri., 7:00am - 3:00pm

Location: Jacksonville, AR.

DUTIES

Manages and supervises residents' active treatment program in accordance with their individual program plans, and demonstrates the skills and techniques necessary to implement individual program plans.

Follows prescribed activities to meet individual objectives. Provides services which have been developed in an individual plans.

Initiates learning skills program, i.e., reading, money management, cooking, grooming, dress, hygiene.

Is responsible for the completion of appropriate forms and reports including recording progress notes.

Provides care and instruction for all residents in the facility in all areas of daily living including home management skills, cooking, cleaning and socialization skills, utilizing behavioral management techniques.

Assists in maintenance of the facility.

Provide a variety of choices in community inclusion activities for residents of the facility.

Supervises/reminds residents when it is necessary to take and refill medications.

Manage residents in appropriate behaviors in a professional manner and demonstrates the necessary skills and techniques to intervene effectively.

Assists in the development and management of Pathfinder supported employment program as assigned.

Attends meetings and training sessions as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in working with individuals with mental retardation/developmental disabilities. Experience in household/direct care duties in a residential/healthcare setting. Ability to work well with others. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these qualifications.

Must have knowledge of training techniques and strategies as they apply to the developmentally disable individual, be able to observe behavior and determine needs based on these observations; ability to interact appropriately with individuals with developmental disabilities. Must be able to operate all household and kitchen appliances for cooking and cleaning the facility.

Pathfinder facilities have 15 passenger vans that you will be required to drive and you must be 25 years or older to drive. Must posses current Arkansas's driver's license and have current auto liability insurance coverage and be physically able to drive to various locations in Arkansas.
