Plans and conducts instruction in the recreational area of swimming; acts as lifeguard as assigned; and performs other related duties as required.
Examples of Duties:
Conducts swimming classes for children, teenagers, adults, and the handicapped; certifies qualifiers; acts as lifeguard as assigned. Ensures the enforcement of safety policies, rules, regulations and ordinances governing the conduct of patrons

Knowledge of: principles, practices, equipment and techniques of swimming; principles and practices of instruction; group behavior.

Physical Requirement: Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties
Preferred License or Certificate:
1. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate or equivalent
2. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or equivalent
