System Debug Specialist
This position is a customer co-located support specialist, a technical marketing engineer embedded near & dedicated to a specific OEM.
The key focus of this position is problem resolution enabling customers to ramp their platform designs into volume production. The job will include the application of the candidate's skill in the areas of system bus protocol, hardware-software interaction, power management, BMC interaction, thermals and signal integrity.
This position will require a desire to meet the customer's architectural and problem resolution needs, the ability to communicated complex technical issues, and persistence and patience to debug complex, non-intuitive system-level, multi-unit interaction issues. The candidate will also be able to think creatively and postulate isolating experiments which lead to root cause, have a dedication to continuous learning including the discipline to record debug-issue observations in written form, and possess a positive attitude when dealing with a stream of incoming issues from our customers.
You must possess a Bachelor or a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
5+ years of x86 processor & architecture experience.
5+ years of server system & motherboard design experience.
3+ years of experience with commonly-used static & dynamic debug data-extraction tools. Including but not limited to: run control tools such as ITP/XDP/Arium & scripts, BIOS SelfTest, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.
3+ years of experience with debug data analysis. Including but not limited to: reading/understanding run-control tool output, protocol decode, bus trace analysis.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience resolving problems related to the following x86 architectural elements: PCI Express Gen1/2/3 protocol, QPI bus protocol, USB bus protocol, x86 BIOS, microcontroller firmware debug, DDR3/4 bus protocol, power management (C/P/T-states), RAS features in high-end servers, security, and virtualization.
