A position exists in the Hospital Information Systems department to install, upgrade, maintain and administer multiple computer systems and subsystems. Includes general problem solving, file configuration and maintenance according to application specifications, support and administration of system backup and restore processes, daily performance monitoring, error detection; and system tuning. The duties and responsibilities for supporting the various environments associated with the position are as follows:
-Install, upgrade, and maintain multiple UNIX systems and subsystems, including AIX and Red Hat Linux.
-Support and administer system backup and restore processes using Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and related database utilities / methods; would include support for end point servers, as well as the TSM infrastructure server.
-Provide day to day performance monitoring and error detection; perform system tuning as necessary.
-Establish / maintain appropriate security facilities on supported servers and perform ongoing monitoring of access activity.
-Perform system bench marking for server sizing and develop/document new configurations as required.
-Configure and maintain file systems as required by application.
-Perform general problem solving and provide support to developers, DBAs and clients.
-Provide remote, multi-data center monitoring and support
-Develop, test and implement automation routines and scripts where necessary
-Perform research and development on new and emerging technologies in SAN/NAS disk storage.
-Provide 24x7 on-call support for these technologies, on a rotating basis
-Provide support as necessary to the Data Center Coordinator with hardware provisioning
The position requires 5 years hands-on, operational UNIX administration experience with 3 years of AIX. This includes administration of software, hardware, printing, security, networking, scheduling, and file systems. Experience with more than one UNIX variant helpful. Shell scripting skills are essential, as is familiarity with networking concepts including TCP/IP. Knowledge of blade technology, exposure to network monitoring tools, Oracle, or SQL Server DBMS architectures, Tivoli Storage Manager, and a SAN environment, as well as awareness of client server architectures are a plus.
