SCHEDULE: 40 Hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Transcribe information as shown on field survey map, completed work order sketch or other orders, prints, sketches, etc., into the Electric Geographic Information System (EGIS). The transcription process includes the updating of facilities (using EGIS electronic drafting software) and the updating of specific data into the associated tables and fields in the EGIS application. Run tracing and connectivity GIS programs to validate the quality of the EGIS updates.
Prepare printed map products as required for use by KeySpan staff and approved contractors. Prepare sketches from rough notes on simple or standard projects.
Record in EGIS, from written description or sketches, easements, rights-of-way, and land parcels of the Company. Gather information regarding easements for other departments. Perform similar or less skilled work as required.
Maintain files and logs, plot graphs, knowledge of basic grammar, spelling, composition and business writing. Knowledge of LIPA s Distribution and Transmission system. In addition, specialized courses in drafting. Two years in this or related work. Candidates for this position will be required to take a drafting test. Employees selected for this classification will be required to participate in federally mandated drug testing programs prior to selection, randomly on a year-round basis, after an accident and for reasonable cause
Notes: In addition to possessing the qualifications for this vacancy, employees selected will be expected to work overtime in accordance with departmental requirements and to participate in the Company's Emergency Restoration Program as may be required.
