The System Programmer Sensitive will be responsible for the administration and support of all z/OS operating system and its related subsystems implementations. May provide or oversee technical support for all requirements in the planning, coordination, implementation and maintenance of releases, upgrades, or changes to z/OS operating system software, transaction monitors as well as the range of products and productivity tools that support the testing and production environments relating to z/OS computing. Leads capacity planning, workload modeling, and prediction; ensures systems maintenance of z/OS and all its related subsystems; and provides high-level support for the z/OS environment.
This position may work from any NGS location and can be a work at home position.
Requires BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
5-8 years of progressive technical management experience in an IBM z platform environment is required.
Leads work that is varied and that may be difficult in character, but usually involves significant responsibility.
Expert evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required.
Must have a technical background and in-depth understanding of z/OS and primary subsystems including CICS, WebSphere, DB2, VTAM and TCP/IP.
This person will provide guidance on best practices and technologies to implement new business objectives.
Experience with mainframe storage management, Disaster Recovery (especially using XRC), zLinux, Tivoli monitoring tools, TWS, and CA products is preferred.
Must have experience with installation and support of z/OS and related program products utilizing SMP/E, as well as knowledge of Assembler coding for customization of system exits.
Solid problem analysis/resolution skills are also required.
Experience with z/OS, Linux on System z and WebSphere is highly desired.
Previous mentoring experience is a plus.
