Zillow is looking for someone with a passion for technology to support Zillow’s hardware infrastructure across our datacenter environments. This role will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and deployment of our HW infrastructure as well as diagnostic troubleshooting and field repair of hardware components across our internal and production datacenters. This includes deployment logistics, asset control, configuration, and on site vendor management. This is a fast paced, hands-on position that interfaces with a variety of engineering teams including Storage, Networking, Linux, Telephony, Database, and Windows.

The right person is highly organized and service driven with good understanding of systems architecture as well as datacenter engineering, cooling, and power. Has broad experience with a wide variety of hardware platforms, layer 1/2/3 technologies and some experience working in a datacenter environment.


  • Participate in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware under tight deadlines
  • Manage the datacenter environments, infrastructure components, perform asset and change control
  • Work with a variety of vendors and manage vendor performance
  • Perform hardware troubleshooting and component replacement
  • Collaborate with engineering remove project obstacles and resolve hardware and connectivity issues
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide afterhours support as needed
  • Help create and document standard operation procedures

  • Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies
  • Extensive hands on experience with x86 architecture based systems
  • Previous experience in a fast paced 24X7 production IT environment
  • Some experience with Linux or similar OS
  • Good working knowledge of network design and protocols and ability to troubleshoot networking, routing and interconnectivity issues
  • Able to design and deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes
  • Must have valid driver’s license and their own vehicle and be willing to travel within the Seattle area
  • Work effectively with minimum supervision and function well under pressure
