The Systems Administrator - Packaging & Deployment is responsible for the intake, packaging, testing, and deployment of software to the NMDP enterprise. In the role of Systems Administrator – Software Deployment you will be responsible for planning, coding, configuring, forecasting and maintaining applications, tools and operating system images. NMDP is utilizing standard industry tools to support secured deployments to multiple Windows environments including Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003/2008, and more.
This position requires strong automation experience for deploying software installations with zero user intervention in our corporate and remote office locations. The candidate should be experienced with tools such as Flexera Admin Studio, Installshield, Wise Installer, Orca, Microsoft WSUS, SCCM/SMS and MDT2010. The candidate should have experience creating MSI’s, transforms and other custom coding required to manipulate software installations. Experience with VMware and Citrix desired.
The candidate will also be responsible for creating and managing tools to establish a complete inventory of all installed software and management of software licensing for NMDP.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with other Technical Services team members to understand the deployment process for software within NMDP
- Re-package applications, upgrades and utility software using SCCM and/or Flexera Admin Studio; create packages and programs to deploy to department and enterprise
- Develop testing processes and packaging to enable a Windows 7 migration in an Active Directory environment
- Strong documentation of work for quality and tracking
- Utilizing skills and experience associated with installation, configuration and operation of Microsoft Windows Operating systems to enhance NMDP’s software deployment processes
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or
related field. However, upon evaluation, equivalent related experience and/or
education may be substituted for degree requirement. MCSE certification is preferred.
Two years experience in a position that required system administration of
Windows servers and workstations in a business environment. Software packaging experience with SCCM is also required. Windows 7 migration experience in a large Active Directory environment.
Preferred Experience: Five years work experience in a position that required system administration in a heterogeneous server and workstation environment. Must include one year in a project management, leadership, or administrative role. Desktop IT experience, 6-8 years in a corporate Enterprise environment
Proficiency with various network technologies such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Fast
Ethernet, IPSec, VPNs and firewalls. Demonstrated experience and solid
understanding of user management with Active Directory and LDAP.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and demonstrated success in
working both independently and in a team environment’ ability to work with
clients to troubleshoot problems and define user requirements; strong analytical
and creative problem solving skills; ability to manage multiple, rapidly changing
