The Systems Analyst/Programmer Sr is responsible for specific areas in the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of the University's Oracle/PeopleSoft financial and other administrative systems. This position works with staff from departments and central administration to develop applications, reports, workflows, interfaces, and other features based on documented requirements; leads less senior staff as directed by the Technical Applications Manager, and supervises contractors and consultants.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work with functional staff to ensure that user requirements are met, and all deliverables approved;
  • Map functional requirements, transforming them into technical requirements, and suggesting industry best-practice solutions;
  • Working primarily with PeopleTools, Java, PeopleSoft Component Interface, Application Messaging, Application Packages, Application Engine, Workflow and Integration Broker technologies in support of enhancing and maintaining the financial system;
  • Develop and deploy portal-based applications using web-services standards and architecture;
  • Document code and participate in code reviews;
  • Manage test scripts to ensure that the implemented software functions correctly;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Technical Applications Manager;
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired;
  • 5 years of experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft applications;
  • Previous education or experience must include: PeopleTools, PL/SQL, PeopleSoft Query, PeopleSoft Component Interface, Application Messaging, Integration Broker, SQR, and Application Engine;
  • Knowledge of structured query language (SQL);
  • Experience in business requirements gathering;
  • Strong experience and desire to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
  • Experience working directly with functional analysts and end-users is required;
  • Experience in troubleshooting the technical components of a vendor purchased application and its associated back-end processes and integrated applications;
  • Experience in effectively communicating with a variety of people in different roles, e.g., clients, management, and technical staff. Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaborative skills;
  • Must have demonstrated an ability to work independently;
  • Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment;
  • Ability to identify and analyze significant problems and opportunities;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively one-to-one, in small groups and in public speaking contexts;
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in higher education institution;
  • Experience with InfoEd;
  • Experience with FAMIS;
  • Experience with SciQuest;
  • Experience with Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle/PeopleSoft workflow;
  • Experience with SOAP, WSRP and portlet design;
  • Experience with a structured software implementation methodology is highly desired;
  • Experience as a team or module lead is highly desired;
  • Knowledge of data conversion techniques;
  • Knowledge of the PeopleSoft GL/KK/AP/eProcurement/AM modules;
  • Knowledge of higher education or commercial sector business practices;
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
