Job Details: Within the Patient Access and Revenue Cycle IS Team, the systems analyst/trainer is responsible for supporting Billing across AAHS. The individual will need a broad understanding of hospital billing related workflows and operations including billing, insurance verification, transaction posting, contractual allowance processing, UB coding and bill creation, and collection activities related business office processes. Individual will need to understand how various clinical and business processes in the organization impact the billing workflow.

The Principal Trainer specializes in the Epic Resolute (Hospital Billing) application, and is primarily responsible for developing curricula and delivering end user training for the module. Develops and maintains curricula such as lesson plans, manuals, and supporting learning tools utilized in training. Prepares and delivers presentations, demonstrations, train-the-trainer and end user classes, and special training courses as needed. Designs and maintains master patient build in the training environment to support training. Trainer will serve as a system expert on project teams. Will be responsible for assisting build team members in evaluating and designing application. Performs workflow analyses and recommends process changes to enhance departmental productivity. Escalates problems as required to appropriate staff, Management and/or Vendor to ensure problems are resolved in a timely manner. Responsible for the completion of assigned tasks/projects on time. Will interface effectively with end-user customers and the Information Systems team. Other duties will include, but not limited to running meetings, status report updates, and estimating and planning work efforts.

If candidate is not Epic certified in assigned application, travel to Epic’s corporate offices in Madison, Wisconsin will be required to obtain training towards achieving Epic Certification.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or two year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration or related field. 2 – 4 years of progressive experience in a self-directed, customer facing position, presenting, training and writing. Knowledge of healthcare workflows as it relates to application the trainer will specialize. Experience with patient revenue cycle and Electronic Health Record Systems, or other software implementation training programs. Strong team player with good oral and written communication skills. Effective and polished presentation skills. Application of adult learning concepts and interpersonal skills while presenting to effectively manage class and guide end users to understanding. Ability to self-direct and self-motivate, to prioritize multiple projects and objectives. Ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise manner so easily understood by a diverse audience. Must be able to work collaboratively interdepartmentally, exchange ideas and discuss resolutions of issues to achieve objectives.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge or experience with the following concepts: account receivables, billing, paperless collections/follow up, transaction editing, payor management, electronic data interchange, payment posting, refunds, collection worklisting, fee schedules, deductibles, bad debt, write offs, payors, financial service codes, coding/charge capture, charge review, claims/claims editing, payment posting, customer service/credit & collections, insurance follow up, and coordination of benefits. Demonstrated experience in using IT applications to improve revenue cycle results, including cash collections, days in A/R, bad debt and denial. At least one year experience working with Epic’s Resolute (Hospital Billing) module including associated business and technical integration issues, and associated billing best practices. Prior Epic Resolute (Hospital Billing) teaching experience. Epic HB and/or HIM Coding certified. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, email, intranet, internet, and other systems. Project management experience. Classroom training and curriculum development.
