We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer/Administrator to support our client near St. Louis, MO. This is a 12 month, W2 contract position, with a possible 12 month extension.

Essential Job Function:
Act as a member of our client’s Global Infrastructure – Client Applications Infrastructure team as an Altiris System Administrator.The main functions of this position will revolve around infrastructure management utilizing Symantec Altiris Client Management tools.
This position requires a high degree of teamwork. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude and leadership skills. They will need to be an energetic, self motivated individual who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. They must be committed to Customer Service.
Job Functions :
Responsible for managing and maintaining the availability of an enterprise systems management infrastructure.
Drive migration of existing Altiris 6.x environment to Symantec/Altiris 7.1.
Lead/participate in projects global in scope related to expanding and migrating an enterprise systems management infrastructure.
Required Skills / Experience:
B.A. or B.S. degree is preferred.
A superior knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in a systems management application such as Altiris Client/Server Management Suite, Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007, (or) Novell ZENworks with experience in managing medium to large enterprise environments ( >10,000 endpoints).
Advanced scripting with Powershell and/or vbScript, virtualization of OS and applications.
Solid understanding of standard client/server, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and Internet fundamentals.
In depth knowledge of Windows desktop Operating Systems, Windows server Operating Systems, IIS.
The candidate should be able to troubleshoot all aspects of a systems management infrastructure effectively and understand the product flow for core solutions such as patch management, software distribution, inventory, application metering, etc.
In addition, experience in other Microsoft Management technologies, including Active Directory services (AD) and WSUS is desired.
Experience in migration of Altiris 6.x to 7.1 highly desired.
Familiarity with Symantec Workflow Solution or process engineering application also beneficial.
Communications: Must have effective verbal and written English communications skills, strong customer-service orientation.
Technical Leadership / Project Management: Ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to break large initiatives into deliverables, design a solution and hand off to others for execution, prioritize work, track and communicate progress and escalate issues.
Problem Solving: Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills at the System Engineer level. Ability to make sound, timely decisions that have positive impact on the resolution of issues and problems. Proficient at devising creative solutions to complex problems.
Results Oriented: Sets high personal standards. Delivers significant business results. Self motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Must possess the ability to work independently with minimal management supervision and as part of a global team.
Team Orientation: Ability to actively participate in team support by proposing and implementing solutions. Values contributions of all team members.
Education / Certifications:
BS Degree or equivalent experience.
