The engineer in this position is responsible for performing analysis, simulation and design of communication technologies. Duties include mathematical modeling of systems involving digital signal processing, tracking loops, computer network and communication theory. Individual will work closely with hardware and software efforts involved in the development and implementation of these technologies.
Work assignments require theoretical and practical knowledge typically acquired through a combination of experience and education. Work is normally reviewed upon completion of each stage in the engineering process. This position requires the individual to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing, coding, analyzing and debugging a specific piece of a communication subsystem. This will include providing information to and coordinating with the project team to achieve the end deliverables. A high level of verbal and written communication skills is expected.
Expertise in the following areas is also required: communication theory, digital signal processing, tracking loops, computer networks and protocols, and computer skills in C and C++. Matlab experience is highly desirable. Good communications skills are a must.
