Position: Systems Engineer - Senior Java Developer

Basic Function: The position is responsible for developing new database-based web applications and maintaining and enhancing existing database-based web applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop new web applications
    • Collaborate with NCAA staff to define project scope, objectives and detailed requirements.
    • Design and write software and supporting database objects.
    • Test and debug the software to ensure that the business objectives are met.
    • Work in a project team and with a Project Manager to ensure that all deliverables are delivered on schedule.
  • Provide on-going maintenance and support for current web applications.
  • Collaborate with NCAA staff to define the enhancement scope, objectives and detailed requirements.
  • Design and write software and supporting database objects.
  • Test and debug the software to ensure that the business objectives are met.
  • Work in a project team and with a Project Manager to ensure that all deliverables are delivered on schedule.
  • Remain current with software technologies
  • Follow IT methodology and standards
  • Special project as assigned

Preferred Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
  • Four year degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required and an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Five years of programming experience is required.
  • Experience with relational databases is required and experience with Oracle database is preferred.
  • Web application development experience is required.
  • Java development experience is required.
  • Spring MVC framework experience is required.
  • Ruby on Rails experience is desired.
  • Proficient in HTML, JavaScript, JavaScript libraries and CSS is required.
  • Effective communication skills are required.
  • Ability to function independently, yet collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
