Installs and maintains mainframe operating systems and related software to ensure stable performance. Evaluates system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Troubleshoots networking and operating system problems. Completes projects by planning, organizing and monitoring assignments; aligning decisions and actions with corporate technology directions. Establishes and upgrades system by evaluating and implementing operating systems and subsystems, utility programs, monitoring and diagnostic software and hardware products. Maintains operational effectiveness and efficiency by monitoring, evaluating and adjusting mainframe operating systems. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Maintains installation records by documenting procedures used; filing and retrieving documentation. Resolves problems by determining cause; providing technical assistance to applications and other support staff. Coordinates efforts to facilitate successful Disaster Recover Testing. Responsible for the successful activation of the Disaster Recovery mainframe in the event of a true disaster. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
Qualifications
Purpose:
The IBM Mainframe Systems Programmer will be responsible for performing the install and maintenance of XRC/GDPS, z/OS and associated software. Qualified candidates will have experience or knowledge with z/OS, LINUX, IBM Systems Programming, CA Top Secret, CA1, CA7/11, SMPE, Omegamon
Duties:
