Technical Sales and Service Specialist – Alabama / Mississippi Region

Overview of the role

The purpose of this role is to provide sales and technical support to Wood Products manufacturing facilities that purchase wood adhesives from Georgia-Pacific Chemicals. This role is a home-based role in the southeast within a 200 mile radius of Tuscaloosa, AL. The Technical Sales and Service Specialist will work with a team of sales, technical service and R&D professionals and will report to the Eastern Regional Sales and Technical Service Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Overall account responsibility for multiple mills

Technical support for multiple mills (variation reduction, product improvement, training, etc.)

Account strategy and planning

Develop and maintain customer relationships

Coordinate and provide support for product trials, product testing and troubleshooting

Identify growth and innovation (product, process and service) opportunities

Implement value creation projects at accounts

Apply statistical tools to analyze data for product and process improvement

Apply Market Based Management to help guide decisions that lead to value creation

Comply 100% of the time with Environmental, Health, Safety and all other areas of compliance standards

Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Attention to detail and follow-through

Self-starter with the ability to work individually or in teams

Demonstrated ability to apply critical and economic thinking

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Wood Science or related field OR a minimum of 10 year of experience providing technical support in a manufacturing environment

Ability to travel 75-85% of the time

Ability to be physically active, including lifting 30-50 lbs, being on their feet 6+ hours per day, climbing stairs, driving long distances, working with tools such as plywood panel knives and working in hot and humid ( >90 degrees) conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience providing technical support in a manufacturing environment

Understanding of statistics and application in a production environment

Knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Demonstrated leadership potential
