Primary Purpose and Essential Functions: Responsible for buying and selling freight in a dynamic environment within Swift's Logistics division (3PL and Brokerage). Respond to Swift's capacity requirements and network while ensuring adherence to company processes and procedures. Deliver rapid and profitable growth, while leveraging Swift's resources, relationships,and market position. Build and optimize the use of carrier partner relationships, alliance partnerships and other relations to deliver the most compelling short and long-term customer value propositions and efficient means of moving our customer's freight. Serve as mentor and training resource to department personnel.

1 Profitable Growth: Consistently deliver on aggressive growth and profitability targets in order to position Swift as the best-in-class asset based 3PL.

1 Brokerage Solutions: Create and provide brokerage solutions for high-level complex freight conditions; responsibility for brokerage requirements on both the buy and sell sides, including but not limited to: on-boarding, pricing (Linehaul, Dedicated Brokerage and Intermodal), operations, billing, IT and reporting.

1 Customer Focus: Act as main liaison between customer and Swift; resolve arising issues, compile required reporting and identify and pursue additional opportunities. Deliver win-win solutions.

1 Effective Negotiations: Lead negotiations of rates and terms with partners and customers in order to yield compelling value and win-win solutions; sell and negotiate carrier and customer rates to achieve optimal margins.

1 Mentoring: Serve as a mentor and training/development resource to department personnel; provide work direction as appropriate.

1 Collaboration: Collaborate with designated department personnel to ensure customers' shipping needs are met; coordinate daily linehaul schedules, ensure shipments are planned, equipment is fully utilized, appropriate amount of equipment is adequately placed in a timely manner and customers' satisfaction and expectations are met successfully. Collaborate and correspond with third parties vendors as necessary to ensure successfully completed transactions and movement of freight.

1 Effective Communication: Coordinate and arrange the buy from outside carriers to ensure timely pick up and delivery for Swift as well as all customer facilities; facilitate communication and manage the interface between the customers' transportation personnel and head office. Properly integrate customer transportation strategies of those which are considered within the formulation of Swift strategies.

1 Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement through the review and utilization of various company reports as well as through the collaboration with designated department personnel.

1 Metric Focus: Maintain focus on Key Performance Indicators, reports, metrics and methods for ongoing measurement of customer performance and departmental success. Embrace the use of Swift's business improvement tools and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

1 Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which reflects Swift's mission and values and facilitates the success of business unit in order to meet company expectations. Present a quality oriented image where the carrier and Swift's operations are treated in a consistent, professional, courteous and efficient manner, so that the impression is one of excellence.

1 Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership; perform site and carrier visits as necessary, which may require travel.

1 Education: High School Diploma or GED. Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college preferred.

1 Experience Required: Minimum of four (4) years of previous brokerage experience and working in Third Party Logistics environment; prior sales or customer service experience preferred. Proven productivity and demonstrated competency in obtaining, retaining, growing a brokerage book of business.
