The Triangle Research Libraries Network ( TRLN ) (http:www.trln.org ) seeks a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and collaborative librarian to serve as Program Officer for collections-related consortial activities. The TRLN Program Officer will manage and support the work of the TRLN councils and task groups to explore and solve some of the complex issues facing academic libraries today. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with talented and motivated staff across four research institutions to support long-standing cooperative collection development activities. The TRLN staff includes the Executive Director, an administrative assistant, a Program Officer and a TRLN Project Coordinator employed on a grant-supported project. This is a team environment that provides support for the broad spectrum of initiatives and activities of the consortium, its standing councils, and its programs and services. TRLN staff members organize seminars and symposia for the TRLN libraries’ staff on various topics, manage on-going communications, and coordinate strategic planning.
ALA accredited master’s degree in library or information science.
Qualifications and Experience
Required ALA accredited master’s degree in library or information science. A minimum of 3 years of recent relevant experience, preferable in an academic research library. Familiarity with trends in collection development and management. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to effectively represent TRLN libraries in providing consortial services to groups with diverse interests. Preferred Experience working in a collaborative library setting. Familiarity with electronic resource licensing issues and practices.
