This position prepares monthly fuels tax returns and refined products movement reports for state and local taxing jurisdictions. Calculates and reconciles fuel tax accounting entries for accuracy and compliance with applicable state tax laws. Produces refined product analysis of movement transactions and inventories to facilitate accurate reporting for state and local taxing jurisdictions. Prepares timely correspondence with taxing authorities, customers, and vendors.
Coordinates with tax staff to prepare work papers, schedules, returns, reports and payment requests to support monthly fuels tax filings.
Responds to or initiates vendor/customer information requests for tax exemption certificates.
Responds to information requests from taxing jurisdictions.
Keeps abreast of changes in state tax laws and rulings.
Supports special projects assigned by Excise Tax Manager or Director.
Education & Experience:
Minimum undergraduate degree required, Accounting major preferred.
Minimum 0-1 year's transactional tax experience required.
