Manager Indirect Taxes
Join Microsoft’s highly respected corporate tax department as an Indirect and Property Tax Manager. The Indirect and Property Tax team is responsible for ensuring Microsoft and its subsidiaries comply with all excise and property tax obligations within the United States and Canada. The Excise and Property Tax Team is also responsible for providing strategic transaction tax planning relating to diverse business initiatives.
The successful candidate will be the primary contact and coordinator for all matters relating to excise taxes and property taxes within a geographic area of responsibility.
Ensure the timely completion and filing of all excise and property tax filings within geographic area of responsibility.
Ensure compliance with state and local excise and property tax laws and regulations.
Manage excise and property tax examinations conducted by state and local tax authorities.
Perform complex tax research and planning and develop related implementation plans.
Perform excise and property tax planning and integration activities relating to acquisitions, mergers, reorganizations, and liquidations.
Monitor, review, and analyze current tax legislation.
Perform review of property tax valuations.
Provide excise and property tax guidance to Microsoft business divisions and other groups across the company.
Maintain systems and processes to ensure compliance with excise and property tax laws.
Work closely with the Information Technology Group, and other internal organizations, to modify compliance systems and processes as required.
Develop a thorough working knowledge of internal reporting and tracking tools and various excise tax software programs.
Assist in determining excise tax policy and goals in conjunction with Excise Tax Team senior management.
5+ years of experience in Indirect taxes (property taxes, multi-state excise and sales/use)
3+ years experience in Property Tax required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or MST is preferred.
Excellent organization skills and the ability to handle a large number of deliverables.
Responsible for clearly articulating tax information to a broad audience across the company.
Responsible for maintaining clear communication with tax authorities.
Ability to collaborate well with a wide variety of groups and individuals.
Strong PC experience with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
