Applicants are required to take and pass the County data-entry test. Tests will be given at the County Government Center located at 2001 South State Street, suite N4600 between the hours 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Testing must be completed no later than Wednesday, January 23rd. Please note: Salt Lake County Offices are closed on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
It is required that applicants provide picture identification at the testing site in order to be allowed to test.
Only applicants who pass the data-entry test will be considered for this position.
Applicants who have passed the data-entry test in the last 12 months are not required to test again.
Responsible for collecting, processing, balancing, depositing, researching, reporting and reconciling all monies received by Salt Lake County in accordance with guidelines established under Utah State Statutes, the State Uniform Accounting Manual, generally accepted accounting principles, and Salt Lake County cash handling policies and procedures. This position also researches and processes tax roll corrections and Board Letters as well as provides back-up to other departments as needed.
One (1) year of customer service and cashiering experience that includes assisting the public, collecting, processing, balancing, depositing, researching, reporting and reconciling cash payments.
Two (2) years of customer service and cashiering experience that includes assisting the public, collecting, processing, balancing, depositing, researching, reporting and reconciling cash payments.
Daily collection and processing of tax receipts to include tax prepayments, current tax payments, delinquent tax payments, mobile home payments, business personal property payments, and May Tax Sale Collections to ensure timely receipts.
Prepare cashier daily balance reports, daily bank deposits and cashier over/short logs.
Prepare cashier void tickets and payment reversal tickets.
Maintain security of cashier work area and vault by complying with Salt Lake County Management of Public Funds Policy. Assist in daily opening and closing procedures of vault area.
Implement and balance all types of special certifications. Input tax roll corrections and Board Letters in a timely manner.
Assist the public by taking phone calls, answering questions, and researching problems. Assist tax relief, addressing, and scanning areas as needed.
