Aide 2 in Infant / Toddler / Pre-school programs
• 18 years of age.
• Meet all teachers’ assistant standards as dictated by the state Child Care Division.
• Have worked at least six months at the center where they are now employed; and
• Have current certification in first aide and CPR.
Aide 2 in School-age Program
Be at least 18 years of age
• Have worked at least four months in the school-age program where they are now employed; and
• Have current certification in first aide and CPR.
Staff at Aide 2 level may, with the approval of the director and or coordinator be out of sight and sound of a teacher for brief, necessary events, such as taking a child to the bathroom or bringing a child in for minor medical attention. Staff at Aide 2 level shall be trained in the policies and procedures appropriate to tasks assigned prior to even brief periods of unsupervised access to children.
Job Description:
General Function
To assist the teacher implement a safe, developmentally appropriate classroom environment for children.

Essential Functions Of Job
Obtain CPR/First Aid certificate annually.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to relate and communicate well with children, parents and other staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to be flexible.
• Ability to sit on floor or child sized chair, stand for 1 hour periods, occasionally lift
50 lbs and frequently lift 30 lbs and crouch for 15 minutes.
• Ability to multi task.
Job Segments
Under the supervision of teacher, assist in all facets of classroom and program activities, to include but not limited to: meal service, cleaning, , supervision of children, assisting children with tasks, reading stories, singing songs, escorting children to the playground and bathroom.
• Adhere to the YMCA principles of love, respect, honesty, service and responsibility.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervising teacher.
