Activities available to students include: use of the classroom’s kitchen for meal preparation, access to public transportation, regular community exploration work experiences, and maintenance of their own checking account. The focus of the program is to provide the necessary training students need to become active, contributing members of the community as they continue their transition to adult life.

Teachers are required to provide appropriate supervision and instructional support in any and all activities described above including reinforcement of lessons and tasks to develop prevocational and job skills, appropriate hygiene and self-care habits, communication and language abilities, mobility skills, cognitive abilities, behavioral and self-monitoring strategies and/or basic daily living functional skills. Instruction is delivered in small groups and individually.
