Blueprint Schools Network:

Blueprint Schools Network, Inc. (Blueprint) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping school districts close the achievement gap in their lowest-performing schools. Using a blueprint of comprehensive reform strategies, we partner with school districts to plan, implement, and monitor the progress of whole school turnaround with the goal of improving educational and life opportunities for students.

Blueprint uses five core strategies for school reform that are based on work performed by leading researchers at Harvard University. The blueprint represents one of the first attempts to distill successful practices of high performing charter schools into a format that can be transferred to all schools in a turnaround setting. The five strategies include:

  • Excellence in Leadership and Instruction
  • Increased Instructional Time
  • A Culture of High Expectations for All
  • Frequent Assessments to Improve Instruction
  • Daily Tutoring in Critical Areas
  • The Denver Summit Schools Network:

    The Denver Public Schools (DPS) Denver Summit School Network (DSSN) is a network of ten schools charged with implementing strategies grounded in cutting edge research surrounding high performing district and charter schools across the nation. These ten schools (six secondary and four elementary), have embraced the five strategies mentioned above with the aim of accelerating achievement and transforming the schools into communities that foster success. Blueprint has served as a turnaround partner organization for the DSSN since its launch in 2011.

    It is the mission of the DSSN to prepare students for success in college and beyond by providing every student with a rigorous academic experience.

    Teaching in a DSSN School:

    Denver Public Schools puts students at the core of everything we do, with a focus on ensuring that every student achieves to their highest potential. Central to student achievement is ensuring that there is an effective teacher in every classroom.

    One of the district°s top priorities is improving lower performing schools through turnaround strategies. Denver Public Schools has 13 turnaround schools, which receive direct and individualized support to improve student achievement, including funding and targeted turnaround hiring and support.

    Turnaround teachers in Denver Public Schools:
    • Are focused on results and have proven success in improving student achievement
    • Have demonstrated perseverance in their career and/or education
    • Influence and motivate others to reach their potential
    • Thrive in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment
    • Are solution-oriented and creative problem solvers
    • Are able to understand, communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures
    Educational Requirements:
    • Minimum of a Bachelor ’s degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Teacher Certification in Colorado (or the ability to obtain this certification)

    Blueprint supports our partner schools by recruiting potential instructional and leadership candidates.
