Blueprint Schools Network (Blueprint) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to using a rigorous research-based framework to accelerate achievement and close the achievement gap in the nation’s lowest-performing public schools.
Blueprint was born out of an unprecedented analysis of more than 100 charter schools aimed at identifying what is driving achievement in the most successful of these schools. From this research, five strategies emerged as the drivers of school transformation in gap-closing charters: 1) Excellence in Leadership and Instruction; 2) Increased Instructional Time; 3) A No-Excuses School Culture of High Expectations; 4) Use of Data from Frequent Assessments to Improve Instruction; and 5) Daily Tutoring in Critical Growth Years.
Blueprint brings the research on successful charter practices to life by implementing these five strategies in the context of the districts themselves. Blueprint plans, implements, and monitors the progress of whole school transformation with the goal of dramatically improving the educational and life opportunities for all students.
We are currently working with a 10-school K-12 feeder pattern in Denver, CO, a network of schools in Eastern Massachusetts, and are expanding our comprehensive tutoring program to an additional 40 schools in Denver.
The Denver Summit Schools Network:
The Denver Public Schools (DPS) Denver Summit School Network (DSSN) is a network of ten schools charged with implementing strategies grounded in cutting edge research surrounding high performing district and charter schools across the nation. These ten schools (six secondary and four elementary), have embraced the five strategies mentioned above with the aim of accelerating achievement and transforming the schools into communities that foster success. Blueprint has served as a turnaround partner organization for the DSSN since its launch in 2011.
It is the mission of the DSSN to prepare students for success in college and beyond by providing every student with a rigorous academic experience.
Teaching in a DSSN School:
Denver Public Schools puts students at the core of everything we do, with a focus on ensuring that every student achieves to their highest potential. Central to student achievement is ensuring that there is an effective teacher in every classroom.
