PROGRAM: Manhattan Outreach Consortium

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Manhattan Outreach Consortium is a borough-wide initiative, led by Goddard Riverside, to reach out to and quickly move street-dwelling homeless individuals into permanent housing.

SUPERVISOR: Coordinator

CATEGORY: Full-time Salaried

DAYS/HOURS: Wed-Sun 11:00pm-7:00am


1) Supervisory
  • Lead a four-person team providing homeless outreach in Manhattan
    • Offer direction to staff regarding the assessment of clients and need for hospitalization
    • Coordinate 9.58 as needed
  • Insure staff follow company policies and procedures
  • Prepare reports on shift activities and client status
  • Conduct shift change meeting at start and end of shift
  • Train new staff and conduct group trainings as needed
2) Outreach services
  • Approach homeless clients and encourage them to accept services
  • Communicate with clients already known to the program and promoting service goals and providing escorts as needed
  • Communicate with other Manhattan Outreach staff about client housing/service plans
  • Perform clinical assessments of clients and determine when a client should be admitted to the hospital
  • Enter data into computer database daily
  • Drive outreach van
3) Manhattan Consortium team member
  • Attend staff meetings, case conferences, training programs and supervision meetings; participate in program evaluation and improvement
4) Other duties as required

  • Masters in Social Work or related field, LMSW and LCSW preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with persons suffering from mental illness
  • Valid NYS Drivers license
  • Frequent walking and standing
  • Occasional lifting
  • Indoors and outdoors; all weathers
  • Flexible schedule needed: evening, overnight and weekend hours
