Total Safety is hiring up to 100 temporary part-time Air Technicians to work on refinery turnarounds in the Freeport and surrounding area for a project period of 6 to 8 weeks.

SUMMARY

Performs receipt, inspection, cleaning, servicing, reassembling and testing of various SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) and other respiratory equipment and breathing air equipment in accordance with approved testing and service procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT THE JOB

Minimum High School graduate (or GED certificate). Associate’s degree in a science or technical area or related technical training strongly preferred.

Valid driver's license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance. Must possess good driving record and be insurable for Total Safety vehicle insurance while driving company truck.

Class B driver’s license if required by facility.

Forklift experience preferred. Must pass internal forklift training and certification as required.

Be willing travel to customers site and available for travel for short and long-term out-of-town and/or offshore projects.

Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions).

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Second language is a plus.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Manufacturers’ training and certification in assigned equipment.

Ability to use RentalMan or similar AS400 mainframe based computer system.

Ability to assess the repair needed and to quote customer price and delivery for repair or replacement.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization for training in the use of the equipment.

Ability to train lower level Technicians and customers.

Consistently demonstrates the ability to operate, maintain and repair assigned equipment meeting or exceeding service and quality targets. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose more complex process and equipment problems and take corrective action.

Ability to inspect equipment as required by facility or service agreement.

Proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility and customer required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Trained in Respiratory Protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested).

Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

TRAINING REQUIRED

Employee Orientation. State and OSHA regulations training. Coast Guard regulations if offshore. Equipment Manufacturers’ training. All other training required if interested in advancing to level III.

Performs some advanced functions and may cross-train for other functions as part of training and development.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS

Work Environment: Shop, yard and customer environments. May be frequently exposed to wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration. High pressure, chemicals, shop traffic. The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a non-exempt position and is therefore subject to overtime.
