Job Description The Cloud Infrastructure & Management (CIM) organization is responsible for vSphere, vCloud Director, and Solutions for Enterprise Virtualization and Cloud enablement. vCenter Tools & Infrastructure team works closely with CIM development teams to ensure that the entire development ecosystem remains organized and maintainable. Successful candidates for this position will have a strong technical background in designing and developing tools and frameworks, coding, scripting and debugging. Experience in developing cloud services, troubleshooting complex distributed systems, and working with virtualization tools is highly desired. As Tech Lead, the candidate will drive technical projects and provide leadership and guidance for a group of engineers in an innovative and highly dynamic environment. We are looking for highly motivated candidates with good interpersonal and communication skills who can work in collaboration with various teams in the R&D organization.

Responsibilities:
. Develop diagnostic tools such as log analyzers, stack trace analyzers, deadlock detectors etc to simplify the debugging process.
. Develop debugging tools for various types of problem scenarios such as system panic, core dumps etc.
. Develop tools to simulate large scale environments
. Develop tools and dashboards to execute test workloads and monitor test results
. Work closely with engineering, release management, build, and Quality Engineering teams to develop tools and to resolve issues in a timely fashion.
. Implement analytics to catch product regressions in an automated fashion.
. Own and drive technical projects in the team and lead a group of engineers.
. Mentor junior engineers in the team.

Requirements:
. MS degree in CS, CE, or related technical field
. Strong skills in C/C++/Java and Perl/Python (preferred)
. Experience in writing tools, utilities and automating processes to streamline software development
. Experience working in Windows and Linux Environments
. Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills.
. Familiarity with build and dependency management tools: Scons, Make, Maven, Ant, etc
. Familiarity with VMware products like vSphere, vCloud Director, and LabManager is a big plus
. Web Application Development desired
. Experience in the role of technical lead for complex projects with hands on design & development
. Proven track record of having worked with a broad range of internal groups
. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and balance priorities with good time management skills
. Strong communication skills.
. Demonstrate creativity, initiative and alignment with company’s business goals. Location Palo Alto, CA, US
