Job Summary:

Manage multiple WhatsUp Log Management product lines, including expansion into new product areas. The job requires both technology expertise and market understanding to drive the product portfolio into the next generation of IT Management solutions. Applicants must be comfortable with frequent multi-tasking between technical, strategic, marketing and planning activities. Under the direction of a Senior Product Manager, this position will work in close partnership with Development, Marketing, Support and Services, Inside and Channel Sales and Executive Management. The Technical Product Manager will provide product line direction, vision and functional requirements for existing and new offerings that meet market demands and provide an excellent user experience.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

Develop detailed and actionable use cases and functional specifications leveraging a deep understanding of the market and how customers use the products.

Implement product strategies to increase product line demand, revenue and profitability.

Work hand-in-hand with Product Development during the development cycle to ensure product requirements are understood and met by the product release.

Work closely with Marketing to ensure successful product launches and act as a subject matter expert to support marketing content development, press/analyst outreach, events and internal training.

Regularly interact with the Sales groups to gather customer and channel requirements as well as assist with key accounts.

Actively engage customers and solicit feedback and input on product features, functionality and usability.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Research, document and validate product strategy based on feedback from the broader market, key customers, customer forums, usability panels and competition.

Function as a customer advocate and product line evangelist who is an expert on product features, functionality and benefits and communicate the product value both internally and externally.

Contribute to and maintain the product roadmap

Contribute to product positioning; business partnership efforts; and management of strategic vendors/partners relationships

Provide direction on product pricing, licensing, and packaging

Analyze product markets including target segments, competitive analysis, and industry trends

Participate in and contribute to usability testing and forums

Regular travel (20%)

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None, though extensive matrix management is a core part of the job.

Education and/or Experience:

7+ years security and log management or SIEM product experience as a product manager, product developer, sales engineer, or expert end-user

Must be a subject matter expert in security and event log management or SIEM sectors

Demonstrated expertise in major U.S. security standards and statutory compliance requirements; familiarity with international standards and compliance requirements a plus

Experience in product management processes and methodologies

Strategic product planning and go-to-market skills preferred

Familiarity with Agile Scrum driven development process preferred

Experience in or technical certifications held in Microsoft Windows network administration and/or related technologies preferred
