The Advanced Development Team is a critical investment in Greenplum's future as it identifies nascent technologies and selects promising projects for incubation. Operating like a start-up within the company this organization focuses on a high-risk technology bets and attempts their early-stage productization. Successful projects are subsequently incorporated into the regular R&D process.

In the role of a Technical Program Manager you will participate in all stages of the process of project incubation, ranging from the identification and exploration of new technologies to the definition of prototypes and their initial implementations. As the project matures you will own the process of leading the project from inception to proof-of-concept and further down the line help build a team to productize it.

Responsibilities:
analyze market opportunities and their relevant technologies

drive the creative process involving customer advocates and engineers

conduct competitive research and market analysis with focus on nascent technologies

define feature sets and operational specifications for prototypes and experiments

turn successful incubation projects into proper engineering processes

Requirements:
3-5 years industry experience in a comparable role, preferably in a start-up

a passion for technology and Big Data challenges

strong analytical capabilities, innovative and resourceful

excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)

good working knowledge of data management systems and their implementations

eye for both: detail-orientation and big picture

team player; capable of conducting independent research

result-driven, self-motivated, self-starter

not afraid to take on hard technical challenges

Additional qualifications are a definite plus:
strong knowledge in distributed systems engineering and/or cloud computing

familiarity with all aspects of full-cycle enterprise software development

familiarity with agile development methods

fluency in some query language (e.g., SQL)
