Amazon’s Inventory Policy Analytics group is looking for experienced TPMs who want to be part of building the next generation of inventory planning systems. As part of Amazon’s Inventory Planning and Control technology group, the Inventory Policy Analytics team design and build systems that measure and manage inventory policy decisions and identifies gaps in existing policy performance. We work closely with business groups in every Amazon marketplace.
As the Senior Technical Program Manager in the Inventory Policy Analytics group, you will be responsible for managing technical design, implementation, and delivery of large-scale systems that solve highly complex technical problems. You’ll work closely with a variety of stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the project, including business leaders, research scientists, statisticians, and software and infrastructure teams. As the owner of the roadmap and project schedule, you’re responsible for ensuring your project portfolio meets customer requirements, is on schedule, and ready to scale with Amazon’s business. You should be comfortable diving deep into business requirements and technical architectures, and be able to quickly identify solutions to problems raised during the project. Amazon moves quickly, and you should have experience leading globally distributed development teams who follow agile development practices.
Excellent written and verbal presentation skills and organization are required. Successful candidates must be eager to learn the science of supply chain management, passionate about delivering results, demonstrate a disciplined approach to rigorously measuring and tracking project performance, and be vocal champions of innovation and continuous improvement.
BA/BS in a technical discipline (Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics).
3+ years of experience in project or program management.
A deep understanding of software development, architecture, and infrastructure.
Experience working in or leading teams following agile software development practices (Scrum, etc).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Data-driven decision making or quantitative analysis skills (including deep knowledge of Excel, SQL, or statistics).
Proficiency with project management tools, including Microsoft Project and Excel.
MBA or MS in a technical discipline.
2+ years working in or managing a software development team.
Fluency in at least 1 modern programming language (Java, C/C++, Ruby, Python, etc).
Mastery of supply chain fundamentals, and experience leveraging it to develop or implement a supply chain technology roadmap.
Knowledge of software quality assurance and testing processes and techniques.
Experience with data mining and business analysis, including SQL.
Experience building, architecting, or managing large distributed applications (preferably on utility computing infrastructure like AWS).
