Position: TECHNICAL SPECIFICIATIONS WRITER CONTRACTOR SUPPORT (SWCS)

Responsibilities:
Preparation of Documents – The SWCS shall prepare technical reports or presentations to summarize results of working groups or team agreements. These reports may include, but not be limited to, input from engineering and scientific disciplines, contracts personnel and Counsel. The SWCS may perform additional technical writing duties including, but not limited to, preparation of monthly reports summarizing Environmental team accomplishments, preparation of in-house environmental compliance reports, preparation of presentations for management, and technical editing of large (100+ page) reports to small (2-3 sentence) submittals. The SWCS will also assist in the development of technical documents prepared by various Environmental work centers, and the coordination of quality control reviews to ensure consistent high quality work products.
Technical Support – The SWCS shall also assist with the development of procedures to implement process improvements, improve the quality and reliability and improve efficiency. The SWCS shall assist with the environmental database management packages and correspondence with environmental regulatory agencies. The SWCS shall provide written recommendations to Government personnel. The SWCS shall provide daily reports to summarize efforts.
Meetings/Conferences – The SWCS may work as the facilitator in team meetings. Facilitation duties may include development of schedules, preparation of status reports, management of action items, preparation of reports that memorialize team agreements, meeting agendas, planning sessions or updating schedules.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
The SWCS shall possess a bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or related engineering field, physical science field, or a bachelor's degree in any field plus 5 years experience preparing technical documents depicting engineering or physical science data and environmental media subjects. The SWCS must possess expertise to support government personnel with data input and generation of technical deliverables from Navy and non-governmental information or databases. Experience working as a technical specifications writer, facilitator or similar function is highly desired. The SWCS must have strong communication skills and experience completing projects on teams comprised of diverse engineering, scientific or technical backgrounds. The SWCS must be very experienced with Microsoft Office Suite of business applications (including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Entry level experience with MS Project is highly desirable. Additional experience working with graphic applications is highly desirable.

Applicants must also have a:
Valid driver's license.
Strong communication skills in the English language, both written and oral.
U.S. citizenship or resident alien. Proof of US Citizenship or resident alien card will be required.
U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) certification and appropriate refresher (if needed).
Ability to perform regular and recurring field inspections, investigations, or surveys in which there is a considerable amount of walking, stooping, bending, and climbing.
Ability to perform work in an office setting, with occasional visits to construction sites. Work involves moderate risks of discomforts that require adherence to safety precautions.
Ability to acquire a Common Access Card (CAC).
