Ball Aerospace's Albuquerque office, located near Kirtland Air Force Base, primarily supports the Air Force Research Laboratory's Directed Energy and Space Vehicle Directorates, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Air Force.

Technician III - R&D Research
This position is contingent upon program win
Works with laboratory facility manager, principal investigators or more senior personnel in a research and development environment associated with laser-effects research. Typically assignments include: 1) configure and implement data-acquisitions systems, controls, and other related electronics associated with thermal, mechanical or imagery measurements; 2) prepare laboratory or test site for experimental conduct; 3) maintain facility equipment and perform routine maintenance and calibration; 4) setup, operate, and maintain a variety of industry and custom-developed lasers; 5) develop and prepare test articles and environmental simulators (airflow systems, vacuum chambers, etc); 6) contributes to documentation and data reduction; 6) supports and maintains all applicable laboratory environmental, occupational, health and safety procedures.
Established technician with demonstrated experience in the application of laboratory equipment and operations. Demonstrated experience with lasers, optics, clean room operations, vacuum systems, electronics, controls, pumps, data-acquisition systems, industry standard thermal and mechanical diagnostics and general machine shop equipment preferred, Solid verbal and good written communication skills. Familiar with industry-standard environmental and safety practices.
Experience: High School diploma or equivalent plus 6 years or more related experience or 2 years of technical school and 2 years or more related experience. 8+ years preferred.
Education: BA (BS preferred) in engineering, science or similar discipline.
Clearance: Eligible to obtain Top Secret clearance.
Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance. A current DoD clearance is not required to be eligible for this position, however the successful applicant will be required to obtain a DoD clearance within a reasonable time after the offer is extended and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance.
