Provide courteous in-person and over-the-phone customer service

Serve as Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Telephone Control Technician (TCT) liaison primarily with the 375 th Communications Squadron. Occasionally interface with base tenant units such as US Transportation Command (USTC/US TRANSCOM).

Maintain a few thousand local circuit, telephone, cellular, and personnel electronic device records

Prepare appropriate waiver and priority letters to escalate and job requests

Update the 375 th Communications Squadron enhanced 911 (e-911) database

Install, modify, and remove network infrastructure and telecommunication services (e.g. fiber and copper cabling, termination points, programming)

Navigate basic OSS-Gate, SERVORD, Tectia Secure Shell, Callegra voicemail, and NetPlus Ticket Management System (TMS) user interfaces

Maintain and update trouble tickets and work orders

Troubleshoot communication equipment in government housing

Build and maintain personal voice mail boxes and automated attendant call trees

Service Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phones, Voice Over Secure Internet Protocol (VOSIP) phones , fax machines, modems, Secure Telephone Equipment (STEs), IP Conference phones, Plain Old Telephone (POTs) phones, digital phones (Meridian 5000 and 2000 business-class sets), and video teleconferencing (VTC) supported lines transported across base network infrastructure

Coordinate the addition and deletion of particular POTs lines from the base Voice Protection System (VPS)

Support 800, commercial, and specially translated numbers of SDDC off-base users

Answer questions relating to the RevCord Voice Logger system

Dispatch to various buildings within walking distance

Identify and label office locations

Be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Maintain Scott Air Force Base and SDDC annual training requirements (e.g. Information Assurance, TCO refresher briefing, Portable Electronic Devices and Removable Storage Media, Phishing Awareness, Safe Home Computing, Personally Identifiable Information, Anti-Terrorism Level 1, Controlled Area, Security refresher briefing)

Follow corporate manuals, policies, directives, and procedures

Possess an active DoD Secret security clearance or must be able to obtain an interim Secret clearance

Be able to obtain COMPTIA Security+ certification within 1 week of starting

Posses a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or related field with 5 years of related work experience

Posses, if no degree, 8 years of specialized Telecommunications experience

Be familiar with general knowledge of computer switching and routing principles (e.g. VCP, VLAN, DHCP, patch-panel cross-connect techniques)

Be knowledgeable in Nortel SERVORD or OSS-Gate provisioning interface, wiring standards and interfaces (e.g. CAT 5e/6, RJ-11, RJ-45, patch panels, 66-blocks, 110-blocks), and the main distribution frame (MDF)

Be flexible to accommodate for projects/tasks outside of typical job description scope

Understand that work is performed primarily indoors with some potential risks to safety and health related to the electronics field
