Under direction of the Manager, serve as the inventory control specialist for all Network Services and Support parts and equipment.

Under direction of the Sr. Telecommunications Specialist, provide for the daily operational and administrative support for telecommunications and all related systems.

1. 50% Inventory Management for all Network Services and Support Equipment and Materials
a. Maintain inventory management system data base
i. Develop and maintain bar code system
ii. Develop and maintain inventory item numbers and corresponding stock photos
iii. Perform visual validation of received merchandise to description and package details from original purchase order and make corresponding adjustments in inventory management system
iv. Perform check in-check out and return of stock to inventory
v. Ensure that inventory is "reserved" in the system for upcoming major initiatives
b. Ensure predetermined stock levels are maintained in storage facility and all alternate sites
c. Stage all Network Services and Support work orders for medium to large scale jobs based on parts list received from Communications Manager
d. Oversee tool and equipment check out/check in
e. Perform inventory movement based on returned work orders and trouble tickets
f. Ensure storage facility is well-marked and orderly at all times
g. Control access to storage facility
h. Track consumable inventory vs. project inventory
i. Create and maintain system and procedural documentation
j. Provide inventory reports to management

2. 45% Telecommunications
a. Utilize Telecommunications management information system to prepare work orders for move/add/change requests
b. Perform medium level programming in voice mail and telephone systems for work order service requests
c. Employ working knowledge of telephone, voice mail and Telecommunications management information systems to perform medium level triage of reported trouble
d. Utilize trouble tracking system to initiate tickets and track problem resolution
e. Perform medium level programming in voice mail and telephone systems for problem resolution
f. Utilize Management Information System for work order and billing processes for other business entities within IS&T
g. Maintain Telecommunications counselor list
h. Serve as back up for assignment and maintenance of authorization codes, calling cards and coordinating vendor additions/deletions of calling cards.

3. 5% Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Working knowledge of telecommunication systems (telephone and voice mail)

  • Working knowledge of entire Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to handle multiple and competing tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to organize vast amounts of merchandise
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within diverse environment
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Must report to work at assigned start time and staff position during inclement weather
  • High School, minimum of 2 years experience in telecommunications customer service/billing/voicemail administration Preferred Qualifications

  • Some college or vocational training in related field or equivalent experience in telecommunications customer service/billing/voicemail administration
  • Experience in inventory management
  • Basic understanding of accounting hierarchy
