Machine Operator 1
Performs machining duties and operations to include all set-ups and calculations to complete jobs independently and to meet prescribed specifications and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Newly hired and/or fully trained on one (1) or machine operations. Sets up and operates one or more general machines (i.e. milling machines, CNC machines, surface mount, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), lathes, surface grinders, bench grinders, shapers, planers, horizontal and vertical boring mills and jig boring machines). Performs typical machine shop and mold press operations to support the assembly floor as needed. Sets up and interprets blueprints, drawings, route sheets and travelers to ascertain nature of assigned work orders. Computes mathematical dimensions needed to manufacture parts of varying complexities and programs machines as needed. Machines materials such as copper, brass, tool steels, various stainless steels, magnesium, nickel, plastics, epoxy fibers, tape reels, electronic components, and other materials, as required. Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, taping, de-burring, molding and all bench operations and inspect. Assists Tool and Die Makers in various phases of machine shop work. Changes tooling or settings on equipment so that equipment operates within specific requirements which are detailed on an engineering process. Sets up and tears down all production equipment relating to production builds and line flows, with the exception of the potting and molding areas. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows all prescribed safety regulations. Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required. Understands and maintains Safety and Housekeeping Standards.
Supports Nortech Systems Inc. policies and procedures and conducts departmental and Company activities in accordance with these policies.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, inventory software and order processing systems.
