Temporary Lecturer
Psyc 444 Sensation and Perception (3 cr)

Course Description: Fundamental processes and variables in sensory, perceptual, and cognitive experiences of humans.

Major Responsibilities: The Department of Psychology and Communication Studies invites applications for Temporary Lecturer for PSYC 444 Sensation and Perception (3 credits). The course may be offered Live on our Moscow campus and/ or Online for the Fall 2013 semester. This course is taken by both undergraduate students and graduate students in the Human Factors master’s program.

Required Qualifications: MA/MS Degree in Psychology; evidence of relevant college-level teaching; coursework in sensation and perception and/or related areas of Psychology.

Pay Rate: Dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Psychology; evidence of successful teaching of Psychology courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Excellence in both live and online teaching; excellent communication skills.

Temporary Lecturer
Psyc 456 Psychology of Emotion (3 cr)

Course Description: Theories of emotion; biological and social variables influencing the activation of emotion. This course explores theories of emotion, and investigates the biological, social, and cultural variables influencing the activation of emotion. Topics include understanding how emotions are defined, approaches to emotion, individual emotions, how emotions are measured and expressed. In addition, the course will examine how emotions affect stress, physical health, and decision making.

Major Responsibilities: The Department of Psychology and Communication Studies invites applications for Temporary Lecturer for PSYC 456 Psychology of Emotion (3 credits). The course may be offered Live on our Moscow campus and/ or Online for the Fall 2013 and/or Spring 2013 semester. This course is taken by undergraduate students in Psychology and other students across campus.

Required Qualifications: MA/MS Degree in Psychology; evidence of relevant college-level teaching; coursework in Emotion or related areas of expertise.

We seek candidates to be placed on a roster of available qualified lecturers for one or more undergraduate Psychology courses. Courses may include the following: Introduction to Psychology (PSY 101), Introduction to Research Methods (PSY 218), Survey of Helping Professions (PSY 347), Social Psychology (PSY 320), Environmental Psychology (PSY 319), and additional Psychology courses as needed.

Required Qualifications: MA/MS Degree in Psychology; evidence of relevant previous college-level teaching.

Pay Rate: Dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Psychology; evidence of successful teaching of Psychology courses at the college level. Experience in undergraduate teaching; excellence in both live and online teaching; excellent communication skills.

Review of Applicants: The intent of this roster is to gather applicants to fill lecturer positions over the next two years. Openings will begin to be filled for the Spring 2013 semester and continue as needed.
