Term Instructor/Assistant Professor
The George Mason University, Department of Criminology, Law and Society invites applicants for a full-time, Term (nontenure-track) Instructor/Assistant Professor to start August 2013.
Requirements include: a Ph.D., J.D., or master’s degree in a relevant field and a record of excellent teaching.
The instructor will teach eight undergraduate courses per nine-month academic year (four per semester). Although we will consider any areas of expertise within criminology and Law and Society, we are particularly interested in individuals with a teaching focus related to law and society (especially with a global focus) and a teaching focus related to homeland security/intelligence analysis.
Compensation for an academic year is between $40,000 and $45,000; depending on qualifications. Fringe benefits are also included. The initial contract is for one year but the position is renewable. Paid summer teaching opportunities may be available but are not guaranteed.
The Department of Criminology, Law and Society is a multidisciplinary unit located on the Fairfax campus that offers degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. Our graduate program balances theory, empirical research, and policy applications. Our undergraduate program has concentrations in law and society, criminal justice, and homeland security; and a minor in intelligence analysis.
