The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is located in Greer and convenient to Greenville and areas throughout Upstate, SC. Our facility specializes in psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment for adolescents, adults and senior adults. To meet the diverse needs of the community, an array of inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient programs focused on mental health and substance abuse treatments are offered.

Summary of Job Duties:

To provide quality case management psychotherapeutic services to adult, and/or adolescent psychiatric patient populations (age range approximately 12 and up) and their families, spouse, significant other. To serve as a member of interdisciplinary team supporting the organization’s treatment program and philosophy and assure the deliverance of quality treatment to adult, and/or adolescent patients and their families.


1. Able to facilitate therapy groups.
2. Complete Psycho Social assessments.
3. Maintains patient, program, department and related documentation.
4. Effectively communicates with patient family or patient social support.
5. Effective discharge planning skills.
6. Effective oral and written communication skills.
7. Substantial knowledge of therapeutic skills and can effectively use these skills to intervene with acute behavioral health patients in an Acute Hospital setting.
8. Participate in restraint and seclusion of patients when required.
9. Completes annual and other training in a timely manner.
10. Participates in treatment care planning and helps implement treatment care plan.
11. Supports hospital Service Excellence standards.
12. Maintains CPR training.


13. Carry out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department and organization operations.
14. Demonstrates conduct in keeping with CCBH’s ethical standards.
15. Other duties as assigned.

This is a 32 hour a week position. Will work on both geriatric units.


Qualifications at Entry:

Prior experience in inpatient setting preferred; Written and verbal communication skills, skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention common to acute psychotic as well as non-violent crises intervention practice. Knowledge of acute adult and/or child psychological disorders; advanced principles of abnormal psychology/ familiarity with follow up resource services , skills in documenting marital, family and group therapy. Knowledge of 12 step recovery program; basic knowledge of detoxification assessment and treatment procedures; familiarity with disease concept of addiction treatment; ability to identify signs of withdrawal from major classes of abused substances and ability to apply this knowledge to the treatment of chemically dependent patients. Skills in maintaining information as highly confidential. Must demonstrate the ability to treat other age populations as needed or have the capacity to develop skills through the organization’s cross-training, orientation program. In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame. Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation.

Must be able to set therapeutic limits and maintain distance with clients. Maintains therapeutic boundaries with patients during treatment and following discharge. Must be able to address and prioritize multiple task demands within established time frames.

Master's degree in social work, psychology, or mental health counseling, with appropriate licensure preferred; experience in psychiatric hospital setting preferred; range of experience within the continuum of care preferred (e.g. inpatient, outpatient, or IOP, partial).
