Tool and Die Team Lead

Summary: The Tool and Die Leadperson supports production ensuring the maintenance of tooling, fixtures and gages by repairs, preventative maintenance and constant improvements. Supervises and coordinates daily activities of tool and die associates. Conducts planning and implementation of decisions made in relation to the roles and responsibilities listed in this job description.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to work in a fast paced environment. Physically they will be walking, sitting, and standing for the work day. Additionally, must have ability to kneel, squat, lift, and move equipment within work area. These activities require reach, grip, and pinch movements to complete assigned tasks. Communication skills required are verbal, written, and demonstration skills.
Travel is occasionally required. Reasons may include and are not limited to: attending meetings with corporate staff and company colleagues, customer contacts, and vendors. Overseas travel may be required periodically for customer service and new model business development purposes.

Create, record and close work orders using MP2. Must be capable of operating manual machine tools safely and accurately. These machine tools include manual milling machines, manual lathes, drill press, manual surface grinder, and bench grinders. Must be capable of operating CNC milling machines, Wire EDM machine, EDM Hole driller and CNC surface grinders. Must be capable of applying fabrication skills such as cutting, welding and basic machine skills. Experience on the job should correlate to the ability to build increasingly complex machine components and repairs. Must be able to perform troubleshooting of progressive stamping dies. Must offer countermeasures and root cause analyses for recurring issues with tooling and fixtures in an effort to improve reliability and performance. Schedule preventive maintenance on tooling and fixtures in MP2. Operate forklifts, cranes, etc. Must complete related training as assigned by Tri-Con management. Training may consist of both in house and outside, and in an informal to semi-formal environment. Assist or advise subordinate associates in development of knowledge and understanding. Training and cross training of associates is expected at all management levels. Must follow all policies, procedures, and written instructions as stated in ISO14001 and ISO9001. Monitor safe daily operations of die handling and machinery operations. Support customer quality requirements. Ensure quick response to external and internal quality problems.

Education and/or Experience: 2 yr associate degree in tool and die technology, machinist or related field, with 4+ years experience, or 7+ yrs related work experience, or a combination of education and experience deemed appropriate by management.

Tool and Die Senior Technicians

Summary: Tool and Die Technicians support production by maintaining tooling, fixtures and gages by repairs, preventative maintenance and constant improvements. Tool and Die Technicians from beginning to intermediate levels are to repair the tooling, gages and fixtures by direction of the Tool and Die Supervisor or Tool and Die Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Create, record and close work orders using MP2.
  • Must be capable of operating manual machine tools safely and accurately. These machine tools include manual milling machines, manual lathes, drill press, manual surface grinder, and bench grinders.
  • Persons with advanced skill levels will be able to operate CNC milling machines, Wire EDM machine, EDM Hole driller and CNC surface grinders.
  • Must be capable of applying fabrication skills such as cutting, welding and basic machine skills. Experience on the job should correlate to the ability to build increasingly complex machine components and repairs.
  • Must be able to perform troubleshooting of progressive stamping dies, Offer countermeasures and root cause analyses for recurring issues with tooling and fixtures in an effort to improve reliability and performance.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance procedures on tooling and fixtures as scheduled in MP2.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, etc.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates will possess an Associate degree or equivalent.
