A Fuel Oil Trader in the Americas Division is accountable for all supply and trading activity as it relates to fuel oil (fuel oil, fuel oil components, and refinery intermediates), system optimization and trading for profit in the Americas regions (USG area and Latin America). The trader is also responsible for connecting the regional activity into the global fuels products team and its profit capture. This role actively manages the optimal placement of production and security of supply on behalf of Chevron's Manufacturing organization. This position will interact with different groups in a corporate culture including Operations, Contracts, Credit, and Risk Control. We are looking for an individual with market knowledge and experience to trade fuel oil, fuel oil components, and refinery intermediates on behalf of Chevron.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Trades in both physical and financial commodities in the international and/or domestic fuels products (fuel oil and/or refinery intermediates) trading markets, both spot and term, in pursuit of both asset optimization and trading profit.
Develops trading strategies, initiates and manages physical and financial positions for profit, focuses on asset optimization, and manages price exposure for the refining and marketing systems and trading for profit positions.
Identifies and executes on opportunities to capture enterprise value from buying, selling and blending of fuel oil and refinery intermediates.
Accountable for optimization of fuels product system requirements and of own trading position's profit/loss.
Utilizes the company's position and assets to leverage market opportunities and increase enterprise earnings.
Understands trading tools and methodology in order to collaborate with analysts to model and evaluate market conditions and supply/ trading scenarios.
Position is eligible for trader bonus program.
Minimum of 3 years related experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of commodities in regionally or globally, with application to arbitrage potential.
Ability to develop trading strategies for short to long term time horizons inter-regionally for physical and financial commodities in pursuit of system optimization and trading profit.
Demonstrated understanding of market alternatives and the ability to utilize that knowledge to make decisions in the best interest of the enterprise.
Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, communication and analytical skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of the role of supply and trading in the larger corporate picture.
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
