The Operations Supervisor will assist the Transit Director with the overall management of the River Rider Transit Program. The Operations Supervisor will also coordinate scheduling/dispatching, assign, instruct and provide consultation to the Transit personnel on a day-to-day basis.
Examples of Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
AS DIRECTED, ASSIST THE TRANSIT DIRECTOR WITH THE OVERALL MANAGEMENT OF THE RIVERRIDER TRANSIT PROGRAM
Answer phones, log and dispatch rides.
Prepare reports as requested.
Schedule meetings as necessary.
Assist in preparation of bid specs and other legal notices.
Monitor driver time use and keep Transit Director informed.
Process the fares per County policy/State Auditor's Office and appropriate accounting guidelines.
Provide back-up to the Transit Director when necessary.
Assist with annual Management Plan.
Assist with completion of revenue agreements and maintenance agreements, i.e., Wright County, Highway Department, etc.
As directed by Transit Director, give radio notices to public, passengers, and group living facilities when services are delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather.
Assist with the completion of transit schedules, brochures, directories and other marketing promotions.
Review the route and passenger requests and assign the drivers.
Monitor the assignments to assure efficient use of personnel.
Give instructions or directions as needed via the two-way radio.
Assist in arranging for backup when necessary due to driver illness, vacation, leave, etc.
SUPERVISE THE ACTIVITIES OF THE DRIVERS ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS
Be available to provide consultation to drivers if problems arise during their daily routes.
Monitor the driver, driver's file maintenance, driver training programs, follow through with daily safety and vehicle check and end of the day activities.
Receive information from the driver's related to needed vehicle repairs and arrange for the necessary repairs after authorization form the Transit Director.
PROVIDE CONSULTATION AND ASSISTANCE TO THE TRANSIT AIDE
Provide assistance related to driver issues and assignments in the absence of Transit Director.
PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE TRANSIT DIRECTOR AND JOINT POWERS BOARD
Provide backup receptionist duties in the absence of other staff.
Collect and confirm time sheets from drivers.
Provide accurate information to clients/riders on transit services.
Attend Senior Dining Site and MnDot meetings as necessary.
Prepare and disseminate fliers, schedules or other transit information.
Assure that all the vehicles are maintained as required by manufacturer, licenses are current , upkeep is done and records are up to date.
High School diploma or equivalent. Valid MN Class B Driver's License with large bus endorsement.
Previous experience in supervision and considerable knowledge of transit operations.
Skill in the operation of transit equipment and vehicles.
Effective communication skills (communicating with employees, passengers and external agencies).
Knowledge of federal and state transportation laws and regulations.
Computer skills (dispatching software, excel, word)
Answering phones, and schedule rides.
