Reporting to the Director of Critical Care Nursing/Nursing Practice, the Transport Coordinator/Education Specialist is repsonsible for the educational needs of the critical care nursing team and the day-to-day operations of the PICU Transport Program. The educational component of the position includes planning and implementing didactic and clinical training programs for all newly hired PICU RNs (new graduates and those with experience). In cooperation witht he management team and the clinical nurse specialist, the tranpsort/education specialist is also responsible for the day to day assessment of the educational needs and maintenance of competencies of the nursing staff. This includes focus on national patient safety goals, new treatment modalities, equipment and technologies, and educational follow up in areas identified as needing improvement. Expanded role training and proficiencies are also coordinated by this role. THe transport/outreach coordination component of the position includes coordination of both the internal multidiscliplinary transport team as well as the outside organizations, (carriers and referral hospitals), involved in the transport of patients to and from the PICU. Responsibilities include operational issues, quality review and improvement, training, and developing collaborative relationships and marketing of services to outside hospitals.
Current California RN license, BLS, PALS, Current California Driver's License and availability of car. CCRN preferred.
3-5 years PICU experience, including transport experience. Previous experience and expertise in teaching.
Skills & Abilities:
Basic proficiency with computer systems (word processing, spreadsheets, database). Effective verbal and wrtten communication skills. Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills.
