The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District announces an opening for Serviceperson. The Serviceperson is under the general supervision of the Transportation Manager and under the direct supervision of the Shop Supervisor/Mechanic.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Serviceperson inspects and services buses, automobiles, trucks, tractors, and other mechanical equipment used in the school district. The Serviceperson will also be responsible for diagnosing mechanical troubles and making minor mechanical repairs, such as replacing and adjusting bearings; adjusting ignition and carburetors; relining and adjusting brakes; aligning wheels; overhauling steering gears and drive shafts; making minor repairs to radiators; doing electric and acetylene welding; servicing and repairing power lawn mowers and other small equipment; washing and polishing equipment; changing and repairing tires; fueling and lubricating equipment; maintaining service records; maintaining harmonious atmosphere with Transportation staff and others. The Serviceperson will be subject to safety and clean shop inspection at any time and may be assigned evening and Saturday work as required.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of procedures and equipment used in the service and repair of motorized equipment; computerized diagnostic equipment including tools, drill, presses, grinders, reamers, and brake relining machines. Ability to repair a variety of district owned motorized equipment according to district criteria and standards; maintain successful working relationships with Transportation staff and others. Experience: two years of experience in servicing and maintaining gasoline and diesel equipment. Education: completion of the tenth grade or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical school is desirable. Applicant must have the ability to successfully meet physical requirements of the job and pass an approved pre-placement medical assessment.
SALARY AND TERMS OF SERVICE
Salary range is from (33) $2,766.41 to $3,362.12 per month, eight (8) steps, eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week, twelve (12) months per year. Holidays, sick leave, and vacation benefits. The District currently contributes $15,477.60 per year to family dental, medical and vision insurance plans and a life insurance plan for employee only.
