Position will function as a Transportation Supervisor Contributing Level in Moore County and will supervise a crew in the following functional areas: paved/unpaved roadway maintenance, shoulder and ditch maintenance, pipe installation and pipe maintenance, snow and ice operations, and other operations as needed. Employee will be subject to responding to emergency situations after normal work hours and on weekends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

This position will direct, assist and train subordinate employees; conduct daily tailgate safety meetings; complete daily time sheets; respond to citizen complaints; install work zone traffic control; and operate trucks, equipment and various hand and power tools. Position will be exposed to extreme conditions such as snow/ice, dust, extreme temps, high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment. Must create a positive work environment with a team approach. Class A CDL permit must be obtained within 30 days of hire; Class A CDL license required within 90 days of hire. Pre-employment drug testing is required for this position. As a condition of employment, release forms ALCDRG-01 and ALCDRG-06 must be completed and signed allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past two years about controlled substances and alcohol testing. Valid NC Driver's License Required. Safety toe footwear is required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency and five years of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
